Korwa a famous village of Jaunsar Bawar District Dehra Dun Uttrakhand


 About Korwa
The Village Korwa is situated on the road to Chakrata. Top side of the village is covered with thick forest. Forest contains Deodar, Cheed, Baan, Buraas and Kafal tree. This village is 83 Km from Dehra Dun and just 12 km before the famous Chakrata.  This village was visited by first prime Minster of India Pt. Jahwar lal Nehru in 1960-61 with his daughter and  first woman prime minister of India. People of Korwa are very cooperative and courteous towards tourist


Stay at Korwa

 Village is elevated 2200 mts above see level. In 1869 Chakrata was occupied by British Indian Army and after independence no freedom was given to  this place and kept as  cantonment area where no construction is allowed without prior permission of commandant. Village Korwa is beyond cantonment area blessed with natural bounteousness and panoramic vistas nature. Tourist can find many hiking and trek around village. One can visit famous Tiger Fall, Kinona Fall, Budher Cave and  Moila Top while staying at Korwa. A first tourism concept was given to Jaunsar Bawar area by establishing a base camp at Korwa on May 10, 2012. Camp was inaugurated by  Uttrakhand Government Cabinet Minister Sh. Pritam Singh. 

Best Time to Visit Korwa (Chakrata)
April to June ( Tempreture: 20-30 C) and September to November ( Tempreture: below 20 C)
Chakrata can receive snow fall after mid December but  Korwa receives mild snow fall in the month of January. Hence village Korwa is the best place for stay in summer as well as winter.

Tourist must carry heavy woolen in winter and  cotton and light woolen in summer .
